we're 3 days from M's first birthday and i am an emotional mess.
i don't know why...
it's a happy time.
she's a year!
she's healthy, happy, and thriving.
i know all of that,
but it's just happened so fast.

she was SO tiny.
all of the nurses in the NICU told us we would forget how tiny she was...
and, it's true.
when i see these images, they're so shocking...
was she really THAT small?

oh gosh I'm crying now. That photo of your husband's thumb agains Maja's tiny little head is amazing. She really was so small.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly how you feel about her upcoming birthday. I was a mess leading up to J's. I think that's why I tried to plan such a big party...I wanted to make sure I was very very busy to keep my mind off of this. I had really bad baby blues after he was born and was completely overwhelmed by the though that J would grow, each day, each minute that passed was a minute that I wasn't going to get back. And leading up to his birthday I just couldn't shake those feelings.
But I had a mom on twitter say something pretty powerful so I'm going to share it with you too. She said "It gets better. You don't think that it can, but it does." And you know, when I think of it, as much as I enjoyed J being little and all the stages since, I LOVE the stage he is at now...and I know I will love the next stage too...the walking, talking. Can you imagine how amazing it will be the day that Maja looks at you and says "I love you mama?" .. ok am crying again.
Her birthday will be amazing because it will be filled with love. And you will maybe cry, but that's ok...they are love tears. sorry for writing a novel on your lovely post
awwww...i'm totally crying! how precious. i can't believe how tiny she was, either! now look at her...such a healthy baby girl! i can't wait to see photos of her bday celebration. :)
